| Description |
Cusco ( also spelt Cuzco with a "z"), mythical capital of the Inca Empire, preserves its stone walls and battlements with pride, evoking the greatness of the "Children of the Sun". It's a city packed full of historical monuments and relics, of myths and legends, which seem to come to life every time you walk through its century old streets.
At 3,360 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), in the Huatanay valley of the southeastern Andes of Peru, visiting Cusco is an unforgettable experience, as it allows you to uncover some of the mysteries of the Incas, because Cusco was the center, the "navel" of the Andean world. |

Do you have any pictures of the trail? BTW - you got the name of the landmark wrong, surely it should be "Manchu Picchu" and not "tourist" ;-)

There seems be a suggestion here that Cuzco and Machu Picchu are one and the same. The two are actually miles apart. Cuzco is a thriving [relatively] modern city. MP is a historical visitation site only.

I made the four-day hike into MP three years ago and do have dozens of high-resolution photos, from start to finish. I can down-rez a few for e-mail transmission if anyone is interested.

hey - would love to see some. Can you share here?

Not sure. I just queried Iloho to see if I can paste/upload MP photos into this thread. If it's do-able, I'll do so.
