  2. Travelling to Berlin on business? Well, you've come to the right place. Feast your eyes and fill up your little black contact book with these business travel tips for Germany's seriously cool capital – from where to stay, to the best places to schmooze a client, to where to party like it's 1989. Follow this guide and you’re guaranteed to knock the socks of your clients and colleagues next time you're in town.

Achtung baby: when travelling through Berlin remember that Germans are a formal lot when it comes to business meetings – hand shaking (no kisses please), formal address (Mr, Dr, Professor etc), and rising from your chair are par for the course. Lateness in Berlin is a huge faux pas: don't let your jetlag land you in hot water.

Where to Dance in Berlin:

Rodeo: Forget your cowboy boots; Rodeo is one of Berlin's hottest night spots, popular with the likes of David LaChapelle. On Fridays and Saturdays party animals can get their kicks in the former Royal Post Office building. Rodeo can be tricky to find, you need to head through a courtyard and up some stairs to get there, but that's all part of the adventure.
Augusstraße 5a, 10117, Berlin, Germany; Tel: +49 163 162 0168; Web: www.rodeo-berlin.de.

Cookies: After 10:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays Cookies Cream, the vegetarian restaurant, turns into Cookies the über-chic night club. Like Rodeo, Cookies is unmarked and can prove hard to find, it's at the end of an alleyway behind the Westin Grand Hotel.
Friedrichstrasse 158-164, 10117, Berlin, Germany; Tel: +49 (0)30 2749 2940; Web: www.cookies.ch.

Berghain: Cited by some as "the best club ever", Berghain promises you and your clients a night to remember, if you can get in. You have to impress a bouncer known as the "Iron Man", and pass the "are you cool enough" test, but if you get through the doors it's all worth it. Be warned: Berghain isn't the tamest of clubs so if your clients aren't into all-out partying this place is best left off your Berlin itinerary.
Am Wriezener Bahnhof, Friedrichshain S.Ostbahnhof, Berlin, Germany; Web: www.berghain.de.

Felix: Conveniently located in the Adlon Hotel, Felix is a slick, sharp club that attracts business travellers and the Euro elite alike. Every Thursday there's an after-office party that starts at about 7.30pm - perfect for client-friendly fun that won't necessarily leave you feeling jaded the next day. For other nights, check the online schedule as Felix doesn't run nightly.

Checkpoint Charlie: The Checkpoint Charlie Museum offers a fascinating insight into life in Berlin, on both sides of the wall, from the end of the Second World War until 1989. Checkpoint Charlie itself was most famous crossing point between East and West Berlin. Make sure you stop for a drink at the historic Cafe Adler, right by Checkpoint Charlie, which was where the Allies went to catch a glimpse into East Berlin.

Where to Shop in Berlin:

Friedrichstraβe: One of Berlin's most famous shopping streets and home to swanky mall, Quartier 206 (Friedrichstraβe 71), and swanky department store, Galeries LaFayette (Friedrichstraβe 76 – 78).

Kurfürstendamm: Called Ku'damm by Berliners, this famous shopping street is the Champs-Élysées of Berlin; the long avenue is lined with designer shops, chic boutiques, cafes, hotels and restaurants. Make sure you browse the shops on Uhlandstraβe, Schlüterstraβe, Knesebeckstraβe and Mommsenstraβe, which run off Ku'damm. Also, check out Berlin's most famous department store, KaDeWe (Tauentzienstraβe 21-24), and the Kaiser-Wilhelm church (on the Ku'damm in Breitscheidplatz); the damaged tower is a symbol of Berlin's resolve to rebuild the city after WWII and a reminder of the destruction of war.

Great tips for Business Travelers to Berlin, thanks for all the info! Isn't the Adlon where Michael Jackson hung his baby over the balcony from?

As a Berlin-Mitte resident I can confirm that the locations are well chosen. Try to avoid "Grill Royal" as it is an overpriced dump with too much attitude. Also definitely avoid Berghain with business partners ( at least if they are not in the gay porn biz). It is the best nightclub by far, but definitely not suitable for business.
For excellent shopping try "The Corner " (http://www.thecornerberlin.de/)

I recently went to Café Einstein, which is a very popular place for brunch in Berlin. I really recommend it - fantastic food in an old and beautiful villa. The address is Café Einstein, Kurfürstenstraße 58
10785 Berlin. It'd be a great place for a breakfast meeting if you're in Berlin on business.
