Although Vietnam is a relatively small country due to the length and shape it is extremely diverse both geographically and culturally.
Vietnam has had an interesting and turbulent past. The Chinese occupied Vietnam for 1000 years and this has left a strong Chinese influence which is still visible today, in the pagoda style buildings to the cuisine. Hue used to be the Royal city and there is great evidence of the Chinese here.
There is still some beautiful French architecture, mainly villas, in many of the towns and cities, usually characterised by the pastel yellow colour.
The variety of holidays is endless in Vietnam, from the white sandy beaches to the mountains and the rainforest. It is an excellent place to wind down and relax or experience adventures like cycling or trekking. There is a massive range of accommodation, transportation and cuisine available suitable for the backpackers’ budget to a 5-star stay and everything in-between.
