Multilingual Language Communicator and Electronic Dictionary can be another solution, which are conducive to improve a foreign language in short term or help resolve some emergency. Most of electronic dictionaries are with travel guide as i know. Here are some options for language learners or travelers
One of our favorite new travel toys is amazon.com's Kindle. It's an electronic book reader (way better than the sony thing) that allows you to pack an entire library into the size/weight of a paperback book . . . and grab more out of the air on the road. We got it for our daughter because we ended up carrying an entire suitcase of books for her (we refuse to punt with the Gameboy option when she wants to read books!). Hers is so great, I got one for myself. The perfect user of this thing is the traveler/bookworm. You can also get some magazines and newspapers on it, though with less than optimum illustrations. Content has not caught up yet, but we're hopeful.
