Disappointed to find very old Business Class cabin! My TV controller was broken and the system was so old and only a number of channels. Such a pity as had I known I could have flown either Qatar or Emirstes to Bahrain either via Doha or Dubai. Really disappointing! Only did it for miles! You can watch the video here.
The actual flight was fine. We were in the front of the economy cabin, but the people in the back had a less good time as the air-con was broken and it was 24 degrees. Apparently a lady fainted and was throwing up... What was NOT fine was that we were overweight baggage wise and Cathay Pacific wanted to charge us £41 per kilo (for 18 kilos) at Heathrow. £41 PER KILO - isn't this absurd? It would cost the same to buy a whole new return trip ticket for that price. Luckily I could pay in miles, so I drained all that I've accrued over the past year to avoid paying the cash. The Cathay Pacific lounge at Heathrow is nice though, with good amenities. Not as impressive as Hong Kong, but then it's not the flagship lounge. It was nice to escape the mayhem of Heathrow Terminal 3 for a short while.
Usual Cathay welcome – very efficient and clinical. Smiles all perfect – not too sure about the sincerity! The flight supervisor had problems with my name – but that is usual, welcomed me….. The attendants were not friendly, and seemed reticent to give us drinks without us having to ask! Even though I am a Gold Card member, I was disappointed. The flight was so smooth – did not even know I was in a plane! Excellent. The Captain made no comments about the weather going ahead. Two food services – breakfast and dinner – again very clinical….. but no complaints! The cabin lighting is like being in economy. Lacks character….. Cathay Pacific are very good – but how do Virgin Atlantic compare? They are much more friendly maybe?
What a lovely surprise! I was in Cathay Pacific's Business Class – and on boarding was told that I was in the First Class section! 4K! The video (coming soon, keep tuned!) shows how amazing the loos are in Cathay Pacific's First Class section. We were on a 747 from Shanghai to Hong Kong as the travellers were massive leaving China for the Autumn festival. It was a pleasure to fly this plane. Cathay were the carriers – not the usual Dragon Air – a real joy.
Another all-round-very-good flight from Cathay on the London - Hong Kong route. Love the new planes and really do believe that CX has the best service on this long-haul trip (well, perhaps they tie with ANZ).
