CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS CX733
[ Details ] View all reviewsDisappointed to find very old Business Class cabin! My TV controller was broken and the system was so old and only a number of channels. Such a pity as had I known I could have flown either Qatar or Emirstes to Bahrain either via Doha or Dubai. Really disappointing! Only did it for miles! You can watch the video here.
SOUTH EAST ASIAN AIRLINES DG122
[ Details ] View all reviewsLike the Old Domestic Terminal in Manila, Caticlan airport offers absolutely no diversion to travellers whatsoever. If you're flying SEAIR from Caticlan to Manila I recommend again getting to the airport with as little time to spare before your flight as possible. This time around we flew on on of SEAIR's Dornier 328s, which is slightly bigger than the plane we travelled in from Manila taking around 30 passengers. Again, it's perfectly comfortable and the bonus is that there was room for an air hostess so we got water and spicy peanuts during the 35 minute flight. If you're coming from Boracay Island to Caticlan remember that you can jump in SEAIR's free shuttle bus from Caticlan ferry terminal to the airport. It's only about 2 minutes away.

[ Details ] View all reviewsSEAIR flight reviews are few and far between so I thought I would share my experiences of flying with SEAIR from Manila to Caticlan. Check-in at the old domestic airport in Manila, which is where SEAIR flights depart from, is pretty basic; passengers have to get on the weighing scales along with their luggage if you're flying in the tiny 19 seater LET 410 UVP E plane. The Old Domestic Airport in Manila is very, very dull with absolutely zero to do so I would recommend getting there with as little time to spare before your SEAIR flight as possible. The other airlines that depart from here are Zest Airways and I think also some Cebu Pacific flights. We flew to Caticlan on the very small 19 seat plane. It was actually really comfortable, although it was too small to take an air hostess; there was no in-flight service at all, the SEAIR girl did the safety briefing on the tarmac (in her VERY short skirt!) and then got back off the plane. The flight to Caticlan took about an hour and was very easy. The views of Boracay island are incredible as you come into land - you can see everything. Caticlan airport is absolutely tiny and everyone waits in a small room for their luggage to come off the plane. Once you've got your bags you can get on the free SEAIR shuttle bus to the ferry terminal and catch a boat over to Boracay. The boat takes about 15 or 20 minutes. There are masses of tuk tuks waiting at Boracay ferry terminal to take you to wherever your hotel is. It's a very easy journey all in all.
CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS CX250
[ Details ] View all reviewsThe actual flight was fine. We were in the front of the economy cabin, but the people in the back had a less good time as the air-con was broken and it was 24 degrees. Apparently a lady fainted and was throwing up... What was NOT fine was that we were overweight baggage wise and Cathay Pacific wanted to charge us £41 per kilo (for 18 kilos) at Heathrow. £41 PER KILO - isn't this absurd? It would cost the same to buy a whole new return trip ticket for that price. Luckily I could pay in miles, so I drained all that I've accrued over the past year to avoid paying the cash. The Cathay Pacific lounge at Heathrow is nice though, with good amenities. Not as impressive as Hong Kong, but then it's not the flagship lounge. It was nice to escape the mayhem of Heathrow Terminal 3 for a short while.
PELICAN AIR 7V401
[ Details ] View all reviewsVilanculos airport is so small that there is only one very makeshift check-in desk. I think it's the only airport I've been to as well where you can leave the building once you've been through immigration. Can you imagine that happening in the US?! The Pelican Air plane was small and as hot as an oven - it took ages for the air con to kick in and everyone was sweating buckets, not too pleasant. The flight was fine though. There's only one air hostess on board and the food is fairly foul, but at least we got there in one piece!

PELICAN AIR 7V502
[ Details ] View all reviewsOn this Pelican Air flight we flew in the smallest plane I've ever been in; just 18 seats... It was a short hop from Kruger International Airport to Vilanculos in Mozambique (thankfully). The plane was so small that there was no cockpit door, so you could see the pilots in action all the way to Mozambique. There was nothing to eat, and no loo on board. So, if you do this journey pack a picnic and don't drink anything until you get there!
AMERICAN AIRLINES AA4594
[ Details ] View all reviewsI had a wonderful experience when flying American Airlines over the Thanksgiving holidays. I flew from Nashville to Washington, D.C the Friday before Thanksgiving and then back to Nashville the Friday after Thanksgiving. I was very pleased with every component of my flying experience when traveling in both directions. When I got to the check-in counter for my outgoing flight, I realized that I had didn’t know my confirmation number and the American Airlines worker was more than willing to look up my information and write the number down for me so I could enter it into the check-in system. The check-in computer system itself was very straightforward as well. Using the touch screens, all passengers can check in, print out their boarding pass, and pay to check bags in a matter of seconds, which really cuts down on time spent waiting in lines. The attendants at the counter quickly weighed my bags and sent me on my way to go through security. The friendly scanners at the gates and the welcome that I received when stepping onto the plane made the flight process less daunting and more enjoyable than other on airlines which I have recently flown. The cleanliness of the airplane, the down-to-the-minute preciseness of flight lengths, and the outgoing flight attendants were first-rate as well. Arriving to both destinations early and exiting the plane swiftly were icing on the cake. My recent experience with American Airlines was terrific and I was able to relax throughout the flying experience more than I ever have.
EMIRATES EK012

Emirates have one of the best in-flight entertainment systems out there with tons of film choices to keep you entertained during the 7 hour flight.

[ Details ] View all reviewsUsual Cathay welcome – very efficient and clinical. Smiles all perfect – not too sure about the sincerity! The flight supervisor had problems with my name – but that is usual, welcomed me….. The attendants were not friendly, and seemed reticent to give us drinks without us having to ask! Even though I am a Gold Card member, I was disappointed. The flight was so smooth – did not even know I was in a plane! Excellent. The Captain made no comments about the weather going ahead. Two food services – breakfast and dinner – again very clinical….. but no complaints! The cabin lighting is like being in economy. Lacks character….. Cathay Pacific are very good – but how do Virgin Atlantic compare? They are much more friendly maybe?

[ Details ] View all reviewsWhat a lovely surprise! I was in Cathay Pacific's Business Class – and on boarding was told that I was in the First Class section! 4K! The video (coming soon, keep tuned!) shows how amazing the loos are in Cathay Pacific's First Class section. We were on a 747 from Shanghai to Hong Kong as the travellers were massive leaving China for the Autumn festival. It was a pleasure to fly this plane. Cathay were the carriers – not the usual Dragon Air – a real joy.

BANGKOK AIRWAYS PG100
[ Details ] View all reviewsGetting a flight this early (6am) is never ideal, but it was quick, easy and cheap so all good. We had a tight transfer time at Bangkok once we arrived, and the Bangkok Airlines staff were excellent at helping us to get to the international transfer area in good time. They had a member of their ground staff waiting for us as soon as we left the plane, and she took us in a mini-van over to the international transfer area. All very, very easy and impressively handled. The return fare from BKK - USM was THB 5,740 making it great value for money too.
BANGKOK AIRWAYS PG199
[ Details ] View all reviewsThis short flight on Bangkok Airways from Bangkok (BKK) to Koh Samui (USM) was on-time, comfortable and easy. We were told to allow a minimum of 75 when transferring at BKK, but it only took about 30 mins to get from international arrivals over to the domestic transfer desks. It is quite a walk though, so be prepared! The airport at Samui was unlike any other I've been to before - super small with brightly coloured large-sized golf buggies that take you from the plane to the arrivals hall.

CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS CXCX251
[ Details ] View all reviewsI was meant to be flying on the 00:35 flight, but it was 2 hrs delayed. I had to be in London for a wedding at 2pm on the 31st and asked CX to swap me onto the earlier flight so I could make it. I was amazed that they did so without any questions asked. The customer service was superb. I was called about 5 hours before my flight by to be informed of the delay, and I was also sent an SMS. I do have a frequent flyer account with CX, which I think did make a difference when it came to moving onto this earlier flight, but nonetheless, I was very impressed with how they dealt with the delay. The flight was fine - I slept most of the way. I definitely think the new CX seats are an improvement - no more chair in your face whilst you're eating / sleeping etc.
VIRGIN AMERICA VXUNK
[ Details ] View all reviewsI purchased 3 tickets that cost around $1,500, and had a serious medical emergency that prevented us from taking the trip. I canceled two weeks in advance, and requested a refund. The refund was denied. I was unable to use the credit due to this ongoing health condition, and because I rarely fly. They were unwilling to refund even after I faxed in a note from my partner's doctor. (I have since faxed in other verification of several other hospital stays.) During one communication with Guest Services customer service rep, I was told that the credit expired in August, when, in fact, most of it expired one month earlier. This led to most of my credit expiring. I have asked for an extension on the credit, so I could try to sell the credit to a third party at a discount. (I wish I could use the credit for flights, but, I'm just not in a situation where we could do that.) So far, the request has been denied and I'm losing hope. I think Virgin America is being unfair -- I cancelled on time, and did not preclude their re-selling the seats. I think the policies are unreasonable and the staff and management are being inflexible and inhumane in this situation. Virgin America is profiting $1,500, getting my money without rendering any service. I feel robbed. If this situation is resolved, I'll post a followup or remove this review.
